DeJuan “Seatbelt” Lewis

DeJuan Lewis has never taken the easy road. He is built for the road less traveled. From the age of four, he balanced two sports at an elite level, living the double grind of football fields and baseball diamonds. A power-hitting centerfielder ranked among the best in Texas and a lockdown defensive back with instincts beyond his years, he learned early that success was not given, it was earned. Growing up shoulder to shoulder with his brother Donte, the competition was constant, the standard uncompromising, and the bond unbreakable.

In high school, he helped secure a Texas 5A State Football Championship as a sophomore and closed his career as runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year (Touchdown Club of Houston, 2022). His nickname, “Seatbelt,” was not flash, it was fact. If he lined up across from you, you were not going anywhere. Picture the moment: he settles at the line, breath steady, eyes calm, route mapped before the snap, and then the window closes.

But the real story is not just the highlights, it is the resilience forged in between. DeJuan began his college career at Prairie View A&M University, then transferred to Lamar University, where he tied for #1 in the Southland Conference for interceptions. Each move meant starting over with new coaches, new teammates, and new systems. Every transition tested him. Every doubt fueled him. And every time, he proved himself again. Today, at the University of South Dakota, he is not only competing at a high level, but thriving in the classroom as a Dean’s List scholar.

What sets DeJuan apart is how he has grown into a man through it all. His journey has been marked by resilience, with every obstacle shaping a stronger competitor and a wiser man. Grounded by faith and family, he carries a no-excuses mindset. He never complains, never backs down, and always works. That discipline has become his signature. Coaches trust him. As he steps into his newest endeavor, AgainsThaGrain Incorporated, DeJuan is channeling those same lessons into a platform he co-founded with his brother, Donte.
